Marliese Thomas is the Librarian for Special Collections Technology at Auburn University Libraries in Auburn, Alabama. While at Auburn, she has served as project manager for developing and implementing VuFind open-source discovery software and as the primary contact for beta testing EBSCO Discovery Service. With one foot in technical services and the other in archives, Marliese has a special interest in working with records for nontraditional items within the developing catalog interface. To that end, she has authored a number of works and presentations on the role of metadata in facet use and in social tagging. Her most recent project involves providing web-scale search-ability to Auburn’s finding aids.
