ElFarouq Foundation Library Endowment

A $50,000 contribution awarded by the ElFarouq Foundation is the basis of a new endowment that will support the acquisition of Arabic- and Islamic-studies publications and other materials.

A previous $50,000 gift, made by the foundation in 2002, enabled the libraries to build a collection of some 650 books, videos and CD recordings in subjects such as the arts, business, social sciences, history language, religion and culture. The ElFarouq's board includes former University of Houston student Hakeem Olajuwon. The foundation's primary goal is the building of "bridges for the better understanding among all faiths to ensure a brighter future in a society of tolerance and respect by encouraging all to come and learn the true teachings of Islam."
