Marketing Coordinator


Kayla Hanagan joined the Office of Development in the University of Houston Libraries as the marketing coordinator in September 2011.

Kayla is responsible for coordinating the marketing and media efforts of the UH Libraries. Her responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Producing the bi-annual library publication; Serving as the graphic design consultant to various departments within the library and maintaining consistent graphic design standards on all printed items, including brochures, invitations, posters, etc.; Coordinating, with library web services, the development portion of the library’s website, including how to make gifts to the library; Developing and distributing library promotional materials; Conducting market research and recommending strategies, promotional materials, vendors and communications methods that will best serve the needs and interests of the library; Assisting with library special events, when needed; and designing library gift planning promotional materials.

She serves on the UH Library Marketing Committee, UH Society of Graphic Designers Committee, Campus Communicators, and a statewide Texas Digital Library Survey Committee.


Prior to working for University of Houston, Kayla gained additional marketing and design experience at Aaron Oil Company, Inc. She worked in the marketing department as a graphic designer and market researcher. She determined the demands for new and existing dimensions of various design elements within the company, as well as raised awareness and value of services through design, marketing, and advertising. After forecasting consumer and industry trends, she designed campaigns using e-mail, websites, magazine ads, monthly newsletters (internally and externally), brochures, and postcards. She oversaw event budgets, timelines, ordering and logistics of the marketing department. In addition to designing a new 30-year anniversary logo, business cards, letterhead, and envelope for the company, she was responsible for updating the company’s website.

Kayla is originally from Illinois where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Design from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
