Ayla Stein

Web Services Fellow


Ayla Stein is the Web Services Fellow at the University of Houston Libraries. As part of the Web Services Department in the M.D. Anderson Library, she updates the Library’s website, produces multimedia, conducts usability testing, creates technology training documentation, and works on a variety of projects.

Her areas of research interest and expertise include digital libraries and archives, digital preservation, emerging technologies, digital humanities, usability research, digital archives, scholarly open access, and diversity in higher education.


Ayla is originally from Arizona and received her Bachelor’s of Arts in East Asian Studies at the University of Arizona, where she focused on Japanese Language and Literature.
She received her Master’s of Science in Information from the University of Michigan, specializing in Library & Information Science, Preservation of Information, and Archives & Records Management.

Ayla’s position as the Web Services Fellow is her first professional role. She interned previously at the Center for Research Libraries and at HathiTrust Digital Library.
