To access an electronic resource from outside of one of the Libraries, you will be prompted for your CougarNet ID and password. Your CougarNet ID is the same as you use for accessing your email. For more information about your CourgarNet ID, please click here.

Is remote access to electronic resources available to emeriti?

How Do I Re-set My Favorites/Bookmarks for Library Resources and Why Do I Have To Do This?

To re-set any favorites/bookmarks, search in the UH Library Catalog for the title of any database or electronic journal. Open up the catalog record for the title and right click with your mouse on the link for UH Main campus users only. When the box opens up with the various options, click on save to favorites in Internet Explorer or bookmark this link in Mozilla Firefox. Our proxy service is set-up to be a prefix to a standard URL for all of the library resources and this is what helps authenticate you as an authorized user of the libraries resources. If you are not being asked for your CougarNet ID and password then you are at the wrong authentication screen and must try to reach the resource from the UH Library Catalog or from the Libraries web pages.

Does remote access work from a Macintosh computer?

All of our resources should now be available on Macintosh computers whether you are using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.

What about accessing Electronic Journals and E-Reserves?

UH students, staff and faculty can access Electronic Journals or E-Reserves from UH Library Catalog. Access to electronic journals and the electronic reserves is set-up like access to all other electronic resources. If you are connecting to these from home, you will be prompted for your CougarNet ID and password.
