Missing Item and Recall Services

Search for a missing item

If an item is not on the shelf, submit a missing item report via the catalog page of that item by selecting Report an Item Missing. Assistance is available at the Service Desk.

Staff will search for the item for 5 business days following date of submission. A notification email will be sent  when the item is found.

Books found through the search service will be held at the Service Desk for 7 days.

If library staff cannot find the item, users may opt to request the item through interlibrary loan (ILL). Indicate on the Report an Item Missing form to use ILL if the item cannot be found and a request will be automatically generated. ILL service time varies according to the availability of the item and policies of the lending library.

Recalls & QuickLoan

Faculty may recall items if they need to be placed on course reserve.

QuickLoan

Students, faculty, and staff can request a book checked out to another library user through interlibrary loan (ILL) using the QuickLoan service.

The QuickLoan button appears in the catalog record for the item if all copies in the UH system are checked out. Click on the QuickLoan button to be directed to the ILL login.

An ILL request form will be prepopulated with the item information.
