University Advancement
The Division of University Advancement comprises the Office of Development and the Office of University Relations. The office has approximately 100 employees with a wide variety of expertise who work closely together as a team to advance the institution externally and promote a sense of community internally. In order to carry out its functions the Division of University Advancement works in close cooperation with the Houston Alumni Organization, the university’s Office of Community Relations, and all of the university’s academic and administrative units. One of its major functions is communication. Through the Office of University Relations, UA provides a variety of internal and external communications. Internally, communication with faculty and students is through newsletters, publications, and electronic mail distribution. Externally, communication with alumni is through publications and newsletters, with prospective students through advertising and marketing, and with the media, lawmakers, and the world at large by constantly updating the University Newsroom, and the UH web site. The Office of Development is responsible for organizing and generating support for the University of Houston from alumni, donors and friends. Ileana Trevino is the current Vice President for University Advancement.
