Originally named Jeppeson Stadium (for Holgar Jeppeson), it belonged first to the City of Houston, then to Houston Independent School District. It was a high school football stadium, which UH was allowed to use. When Corbin J. Robertson funded the renovation and additions to the stadium it was given to the university.
