Moores, John J.
Born: 1944

John Moores earned both his bachelor's degree in economics and his law degree from the University of Houston. Along with his wife Rebecca, he has been a frequent donor to the university, having contributed more than $70 million over the years. He was founder and chairman of the board of BMC Software Inc. as well as founder of the River Blindness Foundation, formerly based at UH’s School of Optometry. He served on the Board of Regents from 1991-1994 and is also the owner of the San Diego Padres.
